CHELTENHAM LITERARY FESTIVAL!

Sian Pattenden’s Problem Clinic will be at the Cheltenham Literary Festival on Saturday 6th July from 11-1pm. This is a workshop to help kids with story-telling and reveal some of Agatha Bilke’s best secrets! Probably. More details if you click on this link. Voila, as we say in the medical profession.

Parties

Hi from the most eminent doctors in town. Well, we rocked up to the Branford Boase Award Thingy last Thursday and had a wonderful time, trying to sort people out. Some of them needed a lot of treatment, I can tell you. But it was such a jolly time – we also met some very sane people who were deeply influential In Books and so we were polite. Our author, Sian, sadly did not win the prestigious bauble but it’s the taking part that counts. Can’t wait to rock up to the next award ceremony… meanwhile there’s work to be done. And the new Agatha saga out next week! Pheurgh.

Short-listed!

The Sheffield Children’s Book Award and the Branford Boase Award has short-listed The Awful Tale, which is wonderful news. Tim and I are looking forward to both ceremonies – TBA. We will wear our best white suits. Huzzah.

Long-Listed!

The saga of Agatha’s disastrous time at TreadQuietly with us, the very eminent doctors, has been long-listed for the Tower Hamlets children’s book award. Watch this space to find out more news.
Pattenden also reveals something of the “writing” “process” on the Guardian books blog site.

Bye! Keep a watch out for the ravens.

Yet Again!

Yet again Pattenden has been tinkering with the sequel and thinks she’s finished. She thought she was finished before but she wasn’t. Not quite. We hope that we are making a fleeting appearance because since our fame we have been very busy and may not be able to deal with terrible Agatha. And we’ve had this dreadful flu, which has been well mental, as they say, and completely debilitating. Phhooo.

Trouble

Well, we hear news of the Glen Dimplex Awards and our spies tell me that Agatha Bilke is not pleased. Her difficult story did not win the Children’s category, and we worry that this might set her off again. Repurcussions. Oh dear. Oh dear. Even Tim has gone off ravens and has bought some security locks. The nation, shudder, ye – shudder. Especially the fine persons at Glen Dimplex. But it was a lovely do and never mind, eh?

Short-listed!

Agatha Bilke’s tale has been short-listed for the Glen Dimplex New Writers’ Awards, in the Children’s Book category. Hurrah for that. Glen Dimplex is “the world’s largest electrical heating business and holds significant market positions in the domestic appliance industry worldwide”. Watch out, people, if Agatha finds your Dimplex heater and causes havoc. Grrumghttt.

Finished!

Hello and I’m back! Dr Tim here with all the latest news from our world-famous Humphrey Technique. It seems that Siân Pattenden has just finished the sequel to Agatha’s Awful Tale and we, as ever, have something to do with it. Agatha finds herself at the Rottington Hospital and ends up in a fine old mess. It will be published April 2007. Much thrills all round – we’re really becoming very celebrated, you know. Millions coo at news of our gurreat therapies. It really is incredible. As I was saying to a raven pal of mine the other day—

Hot!!

It is rather warm and so we doctors have been safely wrapped up with their vital work in the very cool treadQuietly Clinic which now boasts air conditioning. We were wondering if anyone sees any newspaper reports about strange phobias whether they would like to email them in – so click here to contact us.
Apart from that, we hear that Ms Pattenden will be at Blackwell’s bookshop, 53-62 South Bridge, Edinburgh on 17 August at 2pm. (Tel: 0131 622 8222)
NB Those ravens are still wandering around, even if it is hot. Anyone scared of ravens out there?
